Vestiges
Porcelain
Installation view
Vestiges explores the intersection of memory, materiality, and absence by incorporating garments once worn by loved ones and encasing them in porcelain. Through the transformative process of firing, the textile is subjected to the intense heat of the kiln, an act that both destroys and preserves. As the fabric burns away, it leaves behind a void or negative space, the porcelain form bearing a spectral imprint of what was once present. This absence becomes a palpable presence, engaging viewers in contemplation of loss, remembrance, and the enduring traces left by human relationships. The work explores the nature of embodiment, the persistence of memory, and the ways in which absence can have its own material and emotional weight.
