Steel, porcelain
400cm x 300cm x 150cm
Located in the lobby of Home Southbank, and developed in response to the precinct’s trading histories along the Birrarung and the extended trajectories of people in transit, the project translates ideas of passage and duration into a suspended field, extending its engagement with passage and duration by approaching journey as a sustained condition of in‑betweenness rather than a simple transfer from origin to destination. Suspended above a site of continual arrival and departure, the work renders this interval palpable.
Ten thousand attenuated porcelain elements are dispersed across a tensile armature, forming a drifting stratum that is continually rearticulated by shifting daylight and interior illumination. As light passes, tones and shadows slide across both the work and the surrounding architecture, so that the installation functions as a temporal register of changing conditions.
